Laser Facial

1.What does the laser facial treatment do?
The laser facial procedure uses laser technology that safely, discretely and effectively treats small areas to help reduce visible facial vessels, diffuse redness, and reduce acne scars, rosacea, sun damage, and large pores. Unlike many other treatment methods, a laser facial is a comfortable, non-ablative form of skin therapy that gently warms the upper dermis, improving the appearance of your skin. You will be able to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. Your therapy is performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of general or local anesthesia, gel or cream. The result is a healthy looking and vibrant appearance.

2.What areas can be treated?
Unlike many other procedures available today, with laser facial skin therapy; your physician can safely treat all areas. The most common is facial, neck and chest.

3.How can laser facial treatments help blood vessel problems like telangiectasia?
Telangiectasia, or facial vessels, are dilated capillaries (tiny blood vessels) that commonly appear on the surface of the face and in areas around the nose, cheeks and above the neckline. Prolonged sun exposure, aging, trauma and other factors can cause capillaries to become dilated and visible. There is also a hereditary factor in developing facial telangiectasia.

Laser facial therapy will help your appearance by treating any visible trace of these unsightly veins.

4.How can diffused redness or rosacea be helped?
Diffuse redness is a general appearance of facial redness, such as rosy cheeks. As with facial telangiectasia, this condition is a result of dilated capillaries; however, the appearance is more of a general redness rather than discrete well-defined vessels. The most commonly affected areas are the nose, forehead and cheeks. Diffuse redness is often associated with a condition called rosacea that can be hereditary.

Laser facial therapy will help your appearance by gently treating and reducing this condition.

5.How many treatments do I need?
The treatment results are often very subtle. On average, you may require 4 to 6 treatments in order to achieve the results sought. Every patient's conditions and needs vary. Some conditions may require more treatments.

It is important for the clinical staff to have a clear understanding of your expectations to make sure they are realistic with this type of procedure. For more information about your expected results, or the number of treatments necessary, consult the physician at Infinite One.

6.Is the treatment painful?
No, the laser facial is a comfortable, non-ablative, non-invasive treatment. Unlike other laser treatments it does not wound the skin's surface; there is no need for complicated post-treatment care. Typically, patients describe the treatment as a gentle warming of the surface of the skin.

Facial Peels

1.What are Facial Peels?
Facial peels are a thorough exfoliation of the epidermis to remove the dead cells on the skin's surface. It is used to treat damage caused by exposure to the sun and to remove pigmentation and fine lines. A series of 4 to 6 treatments is usually required to create smoother, softer and younger-looking skin.

An added benefit is that neck, shoulders and full-arm massage is also experienced during the treatment.

Photo Rejuvenation

1.What is Photo Rejuvenation?
Photo Rejuvenation is a series of laser light treatments that improve the appearance of rosacea, sun-damaged skin, age spots, lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and help to reduce large pores. There is no downtime and no redness.

To prepare your skin, a cleansing facial is recommended 3 weeks prior to your treatment followed by the use of a vitamin cream prescribed by Infinite One's medical professionals.

The procedure takes 1 hour and includes a mask to soothe and hydrate the skin. A full-arm massage is also included in the treatment.

2.What does it feel like?
Some clients have described their experience like a rubber band snapped on the skin, but the effect is usually very minimal.

3.How many treatments can I expect?
A series of 4 to 6 treatments is required, every 3 weeks, for optimum results.

4.What can I expect after treatment?
Usually within approximately 20 minutes you will see a slightly darker colour in skin tone of the area treated and it may take up to 3 weeks for this change in pigmentation to be eliminated as your skin naturally sloughes off. For a few days following the treatment, it may feel like you have a slight sunburn.

It is very important to follow all post-treatment instructions and stay out the sun for at least a 4-week period following treatment to avoid irritation to the treated area. A sunscreen should be used every day.

Laser Vein Therapy

1.What is Laser Vein Therapy?
This is a non-invasive, safe and effective laser treatment for spider veins, facial telangiactesia and longer bluish reticular veins on all parts of the body.

The fee and time required will vary based on the area that needs to be treated.

2.What does it feel like?
Although many patients report little or no discomfort, some may experience a mild stinging sensation when the laser pulse is delivered.

3.How long will the treatment take?
Treatment time should be 15 to 30 minutes but may vary depending on the number and size of the vessel(s) to be treated.

4.How many treatments will I need?
In many cases, significant improvement is realized in as few as 1 to 3 treatments. In some cases, new spider veins may appear, therefore, additional treatments may be necessary. Treatments are at 8-week intervals.

5.What will the laser do to the veins?
When treating vascular lesions, the blood temperature of the targeted area is elevated to a level that causes coagulation without damage to the epidermis or surrounding tissue. The Smart Cool system of Infinite One's laser is used to cool and protect the epidermis as the laser energy is absorbed by the pigment or melanin in the epidermis as well as by the hemoglobin in the desired target-area.

Multiple treatments may be necessary to obtain a satisfactory response for some leg veins.

Laser Hair Removal

1.How does the Laser Remove Hair?
The laser emits a beam of light that is attracted to the pigment or melanin in the hair follicle that is in an active growing cycle. Pre-determined pulse duration and energy settings are directed at and are absorbed by the hair follicles, disabling the growth of the follicles. This results in quick, safe, and effective hair removal.

2.What is the advantage of using a laser?
Lasers are precise instruments that can be adjusted to the exact parameters that will specifically disable the hair follicle. The laser uses a wide beam that treats many hairs at once instead of treating hair-by-hair, like electrolysis. Consequently, large areas such as your legs, arms, or back may be treated in a short period of time. You will see results that last far longer than tweezing, waxing, shaving, chemical depilation, or other temporary methods.

3.What does the laser treatment feel like?
The treatment does have a slight prickly or stinging sensation. Most of our clients are able to tolerate the treatment without difficulty.

4.What happens to the skin after laser treatment?
Reddening of the skin is the desired reaction. The redness usually subsides within a few minutes to a few hours and your skin colour returns to normal. Since the laser is not invasive in any way, no bandages are necessary. You are able to re-apply your make-up, return to work, and continue with your normal daily activities immediately following treatment.

5.How many laser treatments will I need?
For the hair to be completely destroyed 6 to 8 treatments are needed over a 6 to 8-week period. The procedure is done on a freshly shaved area and the hair should not be waxed or plugged 6 weeks prior to the laser treatment.

6.Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?
Although the treated hair will probably not re-grow, each individual's treatment response may be different because of their hair or skin type. This treatment is deemed to be permanent; however, there are between 500 and 1000 follicles per square cm of skin, of which many are dormant at the time of treatment. These may start growing due to stress levels, certain medications and changing hormone levels.

7.What can I expect after laser treatment?
After your initial treatment, you should enjoy a significant reduction of hair. However, it will take 2 to 4 weeks for the treated hair to push its way to the surface and fall out. With each treatment, the hair in the active growing phase will be effectively treated. A follow-up appointment is scheduled 4 to 8 weeks after each treatment. With that in mind, remember the importance of maintaining your follow-up appointments.

8.What if I have gray, white, blonde, red or fine hair?
Since the laser is attracted to the pigment in the hair follicle, these hair colours and textures may not have enough pigment to be successfully treated with the laser. If this applies to you, Infinite One may recommend trying a test spot to see if your hair responds to the laser.

Medical Wrinkle Reduction

1.What is Botox?
Botox is an injectable cosmetic treatment derived from a pure protein that is manufactured under strict quality control standards and is administered by licenced medical professionals.

2.When is Botox Cosmetic used?
Botox is used to relax the muscles that cause lines and wrinkles.

3.What is the procedure like?
A small amount of Botox Cosmetic is injected into the muscle that creates the wrinkle to block the nerve impulse from reaching that area. The result is that the muscle relaxes and the wrinkle overlying the muscle is smoothed. There is minimal pain with the procedure; most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. There is no sedation or local anesthetic required so normal activities may be resumed immediately. Some patients experience light bruising at the injection site which is easily covered with makeup.

4.Will Botox give me a fake, frozen look?
Administered by a professional, this treatment only relaxes the muscle beneath the frown line or wrinkle at the injection site so your facial expression should remain active. Also, there is no effect on the sensory nerves, so you will have normal feeling in the treated area.

5.How long do the effects of the Botox treatment last?
Usually 3 to 4 months, at which time another injection is required. After several treatments, the effects may begin to last longer.

6.Are Botox treatments safe?
Yes! Botox has been a licenced procedure in Canada since 1990; it is a safe, effective treatment for several disorders caused by overactive muscles, including cerebral palsy in children as young as 2 years old.
In 2001, Health Canada approved Botox Cosmetic for wrinkle therapy and it has been proven safe and effective through extensive research and testing. Used in the small amounts that it is in wrinkle therapy, the most common side effect of bruising is temporary and localized to the area of the Botox injection.

7.Is Botox for everyone?
There are very few restrictions; however, patients who are pregnant or nursing, or people with neurologic disease should not be treated. Consult your physician to confirm if Botox treatements are appropriate for you.

8.How can I learn if I am a candidate for Botox Cosmetic treatment?
To learn more and find out if Botox Cosmetic treatments will work for you, call Infinite One at 905-855-8055 to schedule a consultation appointment.

9.What is JUVÉDERM Derma Filler?
JUVÉDERM® is the latest advance in dermal filler options; it gives the face a smooth, long-lasting and a natural-looking appearance and feel by softening fine lines and wrinkles and restoring lost volume. This hyalaronic acid comes in the form of a colorless gel, which is injected into facial tissue.

10.What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyalaronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring complex sugar found in most tissues of the human body. The average adult human body contains 7-8 g of HA, approximately half of which is found in the skin, where it plays a vital role in maintaining normal skin structure and function. Over time, HA is gradually lost from the skin and production is decreased as a result of both internal (age, sex, estrogen status) and external (changes in temperature, wind, sun, medication) factors. There is also a redistribution of HA from the epidermis to the dermis.

11.What do dermal fillers do?
Dermal fillers are placed below the skin’s surface to diminish the depth of facial folds and wrinkles, which begin to appear as the body ages and skin loses elasticity and volume due to the naturally occurring decrease of hyalaronic acid.

12.What makes JUVÉDERM® different from other dermal fillers?
Juvéderm® injectable smooth gel employs its patented HYLACROSS™ technologie to provide one of the highest concentrations of cross-linked hyaluronic acid of any currently available HA dermal fillers for long-lasting results. This advanced manufacturing process also works to create a smooth gel that flows easily into the skin and provides a smooth, natural look and feel. Most other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers have a granular gel consistency. Juvéderm® is the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has demonstrated its safety and effectiveness with all skin types. As well, no allergy test is required with Juvéderm®. Juvéderm® is used:

to fill lines, wrinkles,
reduce folds and scars,
increase and enhance the volume of the lips,
revitalize and rehydrate the skin, and
enhance the cheekbones and soften the facial contours.

13.Why should you choose JUVÉDERM®?
JUVÉDERM® is the “next generation” and most technologically advanced dermal filler containing one of the highest concentrations of non-animal, cross-linked hyaluronic acids available. The majority of patients see results immediately after their treatment with optimal results lasting for six months or longer, some only requiring a single treatment. The smooth gel of JUVÉDERM® delivers a natural look and feel.

14.What does the procedure involve?
Your health care professional will use injectable anaesthesia to numb the treatment first and will ease JUVÉDERM® injectable gel under your skin to enhance facial features or fill wrinkles and folds. Following the injection, your healthcare professional may gently massage the treated areas. The procedure is quick and easy; the injection usually takes approximately 30 minutes with the entire appointment typically taking one hour.

15.What results can be expected?
You will see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing, and results last up to 6 months or more. However, results may vary and correction is temporary. Supplemental “touch-up” treatments may be required to achieve and maintain optimal results.

Laser Wrinkle Reduction

1.What is Laser Wrinkle Reduction?
This laser procedure uses precise thermal manipulation of the epidermal and dermal tissue. Micro pulses of light help to stimulate and remodel collagen through the papillary dermis to promote collagen production and skin tightening.

It is also a non-ablative treatment to minimize severe acne scars and the signs of aging, like wrinkles, age spots and sun damage.

Epidermal cooling is used during the treatment; it is safe and not painful. A mask is applied to soothe the skin. This is the best alternative for your wrinkle reduction; there is no pain and no downtime to the procedure. You may return to your activities after the procedure. The targeted skin appears more supple and full, resulting in reduced wrinkles, discolouration and scars, even deep acne scars.

2.How many treatments can I expect?
To achieve the desired results it takes 4 to 6 treatments every 4 to 6 weeks. It is very important to follow-up your appointments on the date that is recommended.

3.What does it feel like?
Some clients have described their experience like a rubber band being snapped on the skin, but the effect is usually very minimal.

4.What can I expect after treatment?
It may feel like a slight sunburn sensation for a few days following the treatment. Patients usually report redness, puffiness, or mild swelling in the treatment area that can last several hours to several days. Transient tanning of the skin may result and should resolve in 2 to 3 weeks.

It is very important to follow all post-treatment instructions and stay out the sun for at least a 4-week period before and during treatments to avoid irritation to the treated area. A sunscreen should be used every day.

5.How does the Laser Wrinkle Reduction compare with other types of treatments, such as chemical peels, laser resurfacing and microdermabrasion?
These procedures aggressively remove the upper layers of skin and can be painful. They typically require several days to several weeks of healing time. Microdermabrasion removes only the most superficial layers of skin. It cannot treat the underlying pigment or redness.

6.When will I see results?
Results vary with each individual. With some conditions one treatment may be sufficient, while others might require up to 6 treatments before results are noticeable.

You will notice the texture of your skin will change into a glowing look as new collagen production occurs in your body. This will minimize wrinkles and will reduce fine lines.
